Iran’s ‘Driving Lessons’ to vie at US fest

Iranian short ‘Driving Lessons’ is to compete at the Nashville film fest in the US.

Iranian short film ‘Driving Lessons’ has been selected to compete at the 50th Nashville Film Festival in the US.

Directed by Marzieh Riahi and written by Marjan Riahi, the film’s cast will be made up of actors Linda Kiani, Alireza Thanifar, Salar Khamseh, and Sanaz Mesbah.

“Bahareh must have her traditional chauvinistic husband accompany her during driving lessons so that she and her instructor are not left together without a third party’s presence,” a synopsis for the film reads.

The short has previously competed at the Tampere Film Festival in Finland, the Cartagena Film Festival in Colombia, the Tribeca Film Festival in the US, and the Edmonton International Film Festival in Canada.

Hundreds of the world’s best new films will be screened at the Nashville film fest.

The fest is designed to be enjoyable for anyone including film festival veterans or first-time festival-goers.

Nashville is one of the oldest festivals in the US and the awarded films are qualified for the Academy Awards.

The fest is currently underway from October 3-12, 2019.
